i got a red zebra that was pretty dominant tell about 3 weeks ago,then it started hiding in a back corner.doesnt come out during the day.wife says shes seen it out at night when lights are off.today we noticed its gotten fatter.is it sick?

oh crap is it malawi bloat?i give them blood worms about once every other week and shrimp the opposite week.is there any cure or hope for the best?

Cihlid-man is correct. I also think it's the bloat. I made the mistake of feeding my malawis some dehydrated shrimp...they loved it, but I lost my demonsi, borleyi, lab mbuna, and another eloganus. If you can QT the Red do it. If not, let it ride, feed lightly and make sure you check the protien content on all foods for your Africans. Most need lower protiens. They have long digestive tracks and process their food at alot slower level than other fish. It's almost impossible to save a swimmer from bloat once it shows signs that are to the progession your Red is. I hope he comes through.
