Is it hard to aquascape certain tank dimensions, like the 55g?

I like the length of 55g tanks, particularly for the room I'm planning to put it in. But the narrow width of the tank has me concerned that aquascaping will be difficult. I'm probably going with fake plants, with prominent rocks and driftwood. Will the narrow width make it difficult to craft a striking aquascape?

How narrow? I don't think it will be that hard, bowfronts and hexagons are the hardest to scape.

That's plenty deep.

This site is pretty ridiculous with ideas, and are hard to replicate but can inspire.

I personally find that 12" wide is not wide enough. It can get difficult to get driftwood or rocks in there without creating places where you can't get your hand in to plant or anything. But it is doable, and all of my tanks have been 12" wide with the exception of my new 2.5 gallon which is something like 6" wide or something.

12" is a good size to learn on, don't you worry

I find it easier to scape my 18" tank than the 12" tanks.
It takes practice, but it's doable.

Yeah, I was worried about the depth on my 55g too. Same 12 inches... You'll probably just have to go with a different style. I most likely won't have driftwood to cut the costs a bit, but I'll have a castle thing which I'll probably put on the side.

I have found that the wider the better when scaping. 12" in doable, but more thought has to go into to make it look right. Thanks for the link Unwritten. Just spent the past hour looking through tanks, glad I didn't need to do anything today.
