can you drop the nitrite and nitrate level to 0 with just a Amquel+ plus(removes nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, chlorine, chloramines) without cycling ur tank.. its a liquid dropper by the way..

Your tank will cycle whether you do it with fish in or fishless, whether you know about it or not. Best way to lower ammonia and nitrite would be to have a cycled tank. Best way to lower nitrates is to do water changes. Even if it might be POSSIBLE to lower most anything with chemicals I'm not sure why you'd want to, knowing that it can easily be done naturally and for free with a little bit of patience. Amquel is best used as a water conditioner because you need to take the chlorine/chloramine out of the tank water.

The only time you should ever be using Amquel for nitrite/nitrate is if you have made a major mistake and your tank has toxic levels of this stuff while populated with fish. Otherwise it's for dechlorinating. There are also sometimes small amounts of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate in tap or other source waters. Again, why Amquel is a conditioner for water before it's added to the system.

Actually I don't understand the question you're asking really. Fact is you won't have any nitrite or nitrate unless your tank is cycling, so it's sort of a non-sequitor to even mention its use in a non-cycled tank. Because there will be no nitrite or nitrate to remove.

no you cannot.

You can reduce the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, but it won't keep them at the reduced level for long.

The best way to combat this would be to cycle your tank. You can do this with an additive like Bio-Spira from marineland. Or you can wait thru the process of the bacteria build up. You can also go to your LFS and ask them if you can have a bag of gravel from one of their tanks. Put it into a stocking and stick it into the tank. Your tank will cycle in half the time.

good luck!

Oh and like they said, Amquel is used for a water conditioner to get rid of the chlorine and chloramines, it’s not used to get rid of ammonia

No, it doesn't get rid of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate - it detoxifies it. Then your biofilter gets rid of it. In other words, it renders it tolerable for the fish.

The claims on the bottle...eh...not exactly snake oil, but it does mislead you bit a about what the product does in truth. Which is something, just not removal.
