Is it really that hard to breed betta's?

I've been thinking about attempting to breed betta's, any advice? Everything I've read so far seems to be inaccurate compared to real experiences.

Judging by what I have read/been told it shouldn't be that difficult. The trick is knowing when to put the female in with the male, or at least knowing how to introduce them. I have read about several different ways to do so.

I like bettas a lot and normally have a few females amongst my tanks, but I have never attemped to breed them. All I know is what I have read. There are a few really knowledgeable betta people on this site. I'm sure they will give you plently of advice.
