Is my fishtank stocked?

Its a 20 gal with 5 neon tetras, 4 mollies, and 2 snails. It kind of seems empty, like one big fish would make it complete. But if my tank is at its limit, then I understand. I will just wait until I can upgrade to a larger tank!

If it were my tank, I would put a male betta in. I have had very good experiences with them in a community tank. They do prefer to have some floating surface plants and fake ones work fine. Often Petsmart has some pretty bettas for $1.99 and the longer I have had them, the more beautiful their finnage gets. Sometimes it takes them a while to get use to all the space they have, but soon they are swimming with the other fish.

i second Thyra's suggestion. If you didn't have the neons, I might have suggested a gourami, but even the dwarfs will harass the neons sometimes. I have a betta in one of the tanks and he loves the space.

yeah i think a betta would be the way to go. add maybe a single betta and a few cory cats for clean up and consider your tank stocked
