is my goldfish sick or pregnant?

hey I just got a goldfish about 2 weeks ago and it was doing fine but now I've noticed that its belly is kinda big in the back and I was wondering if it might be pregnant...I don't even know what sex it is...but it's been kind of hanging out by the surface alot and I thought it might be sick too.
Please help me! I don't want my fishy to die.

Some of the others will probably know better but maybe it is constipated. Not sure how to treat it though.

Hello... What size tank is your fish in and is it cycled? If he is at the top you probably have a problem with water quality. When is the last time you changed water? What are you feeding the fish? I would start by changing some water and give him a shelled pea or two.

What temp is the water and is it filtered?

It's really hard to say without a picture, if you can put one up. But from what you said, I'd guess that it might be constapation or somthing similar. Goldfish really don't get pregnent per say, since their egglayers, but they do get full of eggs. But a goldfish that is full of eggs is more plump, instead of the belly just big in the back. But than again, I'm not an expert, if any of you know better (really), please correct me.
