Hey Guys/Gals  *twirlysmiley*
Well I'm new here and I got a question that i need to ask )

I was talking to a nice girl at an aquarium place that told me the atman at 3338 was a really good filter and didn't need a great deal of maintance she told me a few things and what not and i am thinking of buying this filter when i get my tank BUT my problem i was in another aquarium store who said that this perticuler filter was the most advanced filter available in australia and that i never had to change anything in it at all.. which btw i found ludicrous (From all the books i have read there is no filter that good..) anywho

I was just hoping to find out from some people who may have some experiance in its use whether or not this is a good filter to get and what sort of maintance it requires also is it reliable and if something does go wrong with it can it be fixed easly or is it just something that would be inhibitive and would have to fork out money for a new one? umm also are there any inline heats that you can get for it so i dont need to have a big heating tube in there?

I have another question too
CO2 things so that you can pump it into your tank and make plant groth better (I am wanting to get into aqua scaping) what is the best way to go about it? is there like a little machine i could buy that would produce it automatically (In extreamly small amounts) that wouldnt be harmful to fish or do i need to go another road for this? (Umm i aint to sure of what questions to ask of this So if someone could take a small moment and explain to me what i would need to do and maybe a few of the options that would be great.. Or better yet a site that would explain it too me..)

Uh.. hehehe (I think thats all i wanna ask right now)
Thanks heaps to anyone and everyone who answers my questions

P.s My tank will be a 6ft tanks (72" x 20"x 14") and has about 330 liters (If my maths is correct)

Umm K i should be able to shut up now hehehe (SOO many questions i wanna ask!)

i never heard of that filter but don't always beleive what a seller tells u unless u know that person knows what they're talkin about it might be a good filter for just keeping fish but with plants some things are needed i have a 30 gallon and 10 gallon planted tanks and i just have powerheads with sponges in them my other 30 gal has just goldfish and i use a whisper2 filter on that... plants need CO2 and with filters that makes alot of surface movement (takes out CO2) plantsaren't going to do so well, if u want a low maintenence filter maybe a good canister filter will do fo a  large tank like urs just don't use any carbon or ammochips or whatever those are... for CO2 u can buy a co2 system but it's expensive, a cheaper alternative is the diy yeast system there's a post in the DIY section i started doing that last week and i notice a better growth with my plants some plants already have an inch of growth, but ur also gonna need alot of lights, i'd go with some low light plants java ferns java moss anacharis are some low light plants and tough, probally don't need any co2 i keep jave ferns in my goldfish tank and they are fine... just do alot of reading to learn about plant tanks there are tons online thekrib.com has some good info about it good luck  *twirlysmiley*

Hey Aznpanther98
Thanks for yours responce much appreciated
Yeah i have been reading heaps i have read everything on this site that i could find.. (Cept for the Marine information)

Yeah from whati have found out about it CO2 systems here in australia are really really expansive and i don't think i wanna have compression bottles in my living room i'll test the DIY CO2 makers it sounds like a cheap way of doing it

Hmm i'll have to keep looking and talk to a few people and what not about the filter thanks for your help

Anyone else possibly know anything about this filter?

Hey Neon, I posted info on Atman on your other post. As for maintenance free-not so. If its like my Eheim 2028, you mainly change the fine filter pad & carbon pad (I change those monthly-especially the carbon). The main coarse pad maybe 2nd-3rd time of service. As for the rocks (bio-rock), just clean it with de-chlorinated, same temp water, same with coarse rocks at bottom. I dump out all the gunk in the bottom of the canister. Fill it with clean tank water, place in all trays, close it up, and install it. You will only be buying carbon pads, fine filter pads, & coarse pads (if used) to service filter. All the other rock type media you don't touch, just clean out. But the service times depends on your stocking level, mine just need service for carbon pads in 1 month, the fine pads still can be kept for about 2-3 months. The water does stay clean though. I don't think Atman is sold in the US, never really seen it for sale here. I assume your out of the US, right?
I'll post more info if my friend knows about them. *thumbsupsmiley*
