Hello all, I'm setting up my tank that I just got today and I have to wait until April 1, to put water in it. as it was just build. Anyhow my question is this while I'm waiting for the silcone to dry and set. Could I put my Bio Max Biological rings in a 1 gal. bucket of water and add 1/2 teaspoon of Stress Zyme to the water and let it set until I fill my tank and then use it in my Filstar XP3 ? I can also add a water plant to the bucket. My reasoning is that this will/should allow the bacteria to start colonizing on the rings and will give me a jump start in cycling my tank when I fill it up. Some info. the tank is 110 gals. and I will be using well water to fill tank and bucket. Alright what do you guys think?????? Will this work?

i doubt it.two things wrong with that idea.1 without food the bacteria will die off soon, bacteria needs oxygen too.2 if you read carefuly on the bottle of stress zyme you will find where it says "strains of bacterias"i don't think they mean live bacteria but dead varietys like what is used for vaccinations.plus i like bio-spira better,i had to set up a tank on short notice and didn't have time to cycle so i tried bio-spira.i just did a water test last night and no contaminates.i set this tank up about a month ago.hope this helps,i know i was cofused bacteria when i first started in ths hobby.

OK what about this?......

Thanks for the reply Catfishmike, Well I thought about what you say and came up with this idea. What if I put the BioMax Rings in my outdoor pond and let it set in there for a week, this should help in the colonization of bacteria. So that I can have (seasoned Bio-rings) for my new tank. The outdoor pond is 125 gal. and has 2 live frogs, 4 common gold fish and some live plants in it. Well what do you guys think of this. Thanks, Dale

Yes

Yea, Catfishmike after reading your reply I got the idea for using the outdoor pond. I'll let you know how it goes. I will put the Bio-rings in the pond Monday. Thanks for the reply Catfishmike, Dale
