Is this normal?

I just got my first Oscar. He's tiny. Only an inch and a half long. Is it normal for Oscars to lay on their sides at the bottom of the tank right when you first get them? Is he being shy or do I have reason for concern? He is eating so I don't think he's sick but I am a bit nervous. I just got a 55 gallon tank for him and I am waiting for it to cycle so for now he is in a twenty with a juvenile convict. Could he be complaining about the small tank even though he's just over an inch long right now? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Oscars do this.
It is the same as pouting.
Unless the convicts start bothering him, I see no problem.

My discus do this as well but more so when stressed. I'd say its normal as Dino said.

yea its normal..you will also see this same behavior when you startle them, clean the tank, or anything else they see as disrupting their happy lifestyle.
