Jack Dempsey

I just got another jack dempsey to go with my other one but when I put them together they started fighting. What I dont understand is thet they were together once at the lfs cuz I just bought my other one 4 days before. What can I do to put them together. I have my new one in a 10 gallon just for now.

in case you didnt know, theyre going to need more than 29 gallons when they get bigger. the reason theyre fighting might be that the 29 gallon is, in their opinion, too small for the 2 of them. how big are the jack dempseys?

New territory, they are staking their claim. I'm sure they did it when they first arrived at the LFS too.

I agree with fishdude. But....a tank divider for a short period of time might help.

Since you already have had the one Dempsey in the tank for 4 weeks, he has already claimed his territory, so I would try taking both fish out, completely re-arranging the tank, then putting both fish back in.
