jd cichlid

is it normal for my jd to loose his scales? hes aroun 3 to 4 years old and about 5 to 7 inches long.

No I wouldn't think it would be normal. He might have just gotten into a small fight with another tank mate or ran into something in the tank. What other fish are in the tank and how big is the tank?

How is the JD acting and eating? Any behavioral differences?

its a 55gal theres 2 salvinis both smaller then the jd and a severum and a catfish. the jd is the largest fish in the tank at around 6 inches long

I dont have experience with those particular fish but I have seen smaller agressive fish take on larger aggressive fish as a kind of a show of force type thing.

im not shure but every time the salvini comes around the jd he runs the salvini to the other side of the tank and the other salvini is the smallest fish in the tank and he hides allday till feeding.
