Never kept either, but from what I have read you may want to keep an eye on the jewles, as some can be quite teritorial and rough on other tank mates. You've got a bit of room to work with, so the more docile Labs may be fine, but its going to depend on the jewels.

Ya... no issues with the cichlids...

But my crawfish got the boot....

Not really his fault, but my Pictus are too stupid to live with a crawfish.
I guess since I lost the other one, the crawfish doesnt have much else to focus on but trying to catch my pictus... and they greedly hang around him trying to get scraps of whatever he is munching on and they keep getting nabbed.

Mixing soft water territorially very aggressive fish (jewels) with hard water, comparatively docile barely territorial yellow labs may work for a few months, but long term I doubt it.
