Hi all...
Well I just got my 90 gallon Fishtank and I need everyone's help before I set everything up. Right now, I'm on the stage of setting it up, decideing on the equipment.

I've decided on using all Marineland Filters, I'm planning to get a 400 Penguin Emperor filter and HOT Magnum 360 cannister filter. Is this enough filtration?

Also I have question about Heating? at big als, the biggest wattage for heating is 300 WATTS..is that enough for a whole 90 gallon? I know that its 5 watts per gallon- that makes my ideal wattage to be 450 for a 90 gallon. So i'm kinda of short 150...  btw, this is EBO JAGER HEATER, so is a 250 watt and a 200 watt together ok?

Like keprydak mentioned, you can use 2 heaters to get the wattage needed. Thats what I did, 2x 300W heaters for my 90G. Interestingly enough, one broke therefore I only have 1 300W heater. Because of room temperature plus lighting, temperature is never a problem. It never goes below 82F. I really dont need a heater.

About the filters, I just had a Filstar XP-3 canister. Seems to be enough. *thumbsupsmiley*

ok thanks ronrca & keprydak. another question, so I'm probaly going buy some sand or gravel. I think i'm gonna go for sand this time, but my question is how do you clean very fine sand??? I use sand in my 5 gallon and i've never had to clean it, because it seems clean, but i'm going to do it in a 90 gallon, so how do you clean it? considering that if i do clean it with a gravel cleaner, it will suck of the sand. So do I still have to clean it and how? thanks.

yea you can use a gravel vac to claen sand but you lose some each time.not too much though.i can't think of the mess it would be to replace sand in the long run.try mixing gravel and sand to conserve sand in the long run if you vacume frequently.if you don't plan on plants you could by a snail to help on detrius clean up.

Hi all
Well I finally got my Marineland filter and I've decided to do a fishless cycle, so here my question. I just put ammonia in the tank and it is above 5ppm. Its already been a few days it has been like this, and I have'nt added any additional ammonia to it. So, do I need to keep on adding ammonia everday even if it reads above 5ppm? or add it when it goes down? also, I plan on getting a nitrite test kit but do i really need it? can't I just add ammonia, until the ammonia is zero, and wait more then month and then add some fish? because its pretty expensive in my LFS. and it takes way too long to wait for it if i order it online. ok thanks..

Another question you might be able to answer. I understand and I was informed that I can't put Dead Coral in a Freshwater tank because it raises the PH. However, my brother has some dead coral in his tank, and his fish are fine, but take note its only goldfish in it. So, what's the deal with this?

thanks.
