just back from the pet store

I just came back from the pet store here is what I bought a 7 gallon fish tank,3 pictus catfish, 2 two shiny sharks, 1 shark with wiskers and six molies. *SUNSMILE* I hope they live beacuse I just spent all of my birthday money and allowance money. what do you think of my combination of fish? So far they are doing great.*thumbsup2

A new tank and fish in the same day is not good because the water has not cycled.
Also you have overstocked WAY too much. I count 12 fish in your 7g.

I did not have any room in my bedroom for a bigger tank, do think these fish will die?

My fear is that most will die. Perhaps someone more educated in fishkeeping will have more a positive outlook.

Well that makes a HUGE difference in overstocking, but not in cycling.
I still think some of those fish may not handle the cycling too well.
Someone help me out on this?

Is there anyway you could take the fish you bought back? That way you could do a fishless cycle in your tank and not risk losing any fish.

I dont really want to take my fish back and I dont think they would let me take thme back. What is does the fishless cycle do?

It creates cycled water without risking the lives of the fish.

In a nutshell:

The fishless cycle uses bottled ammonia to start the up the beneficial bacteria, rather than fish waste.

Don't freak out too much. Mollies are livebearers so if you have some male mollies along with your females you'll inevitably have more babies in not too long.

Here's a link to the faq section of the livebearers forum, read through it and then you'll be able to know if any of your other mollies are pregnant and what to do in the future.

Just let them get eaten, you have bigger things to worry about then fry, and you will have more if you have so much as one of each gender. Just worry about reading up on the fish you have, the size they will get to, and learn everything you can about the nitrogen cycle. If I were you, I would look into taking the fish back, sounds like you might have a couple of the forbidden giants known as "tank busters". I'm worried about the sharks and the catfish with wiskers.

Those sharks, just to let you know, will turn into I dunno, a good bunch of feet long.

The other fish would be fine, but not right now. I will tell you why in the morning, right now I is tired.
