My red betta, Kazuki lives in a 1 gallon tank alone. I recently noticed that it appears that his tail has been...snipped... It used to be really long...but now...

There is a plastic plant in with him...but his tail doesn't look shredded...it looks almost as though he bit it off shorter...

he could have bit it off, or he could have fin rot. If you get some melafix or bettafix, it will repair his fins and they will grow back in no time. If you get the melafix then only use half the recommended dose, as apparently melafix in normal doses can damage their labyrinth organ.

Like Helena said, he could of done it to himself, I had a betta who seemingly got "bored" and tore his tail to shreds (I saw it happen a few times) Just keep the water quality good to try and prevent fin rot
