Hi! I'm hoping to get a new tank soon, i've not quite decided what size but it will be something big - over 150 gallons. i'm planning to keep angelfish and i wanted to know which is the best combination to keep them in? I thought or 2-3 females together, or a male/female pair. which one of these options would be best?
My other question is, are neons the only species of tetra that they eat, or will angelfishes eat any small tetra?
Thanks for any help.:)

angels and festivum work well together, and they are sympatric in the wild....but angels and discus are generally not good to keep together due to the higher temperature preference of the discus and possibility of disease transfer- angels to dicus.

some people have done this in the past and had no problems, but all of the articles i have read and breeders i have talked to have warned against it.

Bubble:
Festiviums will do excellent with Angels like mana said . They get to be about, i'd say 6 inches or so, and stay pretty peaceful, but they can get very territorial when breeding. They really need planted tanks in my opinion, with lots of places to hide. Also if you wish to breed them, whether or not you want to, im betting they will if you have soft water, a piece of slate will work out fine. It isn't exactly picky about what it eat either. A diet of pellets and some live food will be fine.

Steve:
Depending on what is in the community, single Angels will usually do fine and stay relatively peaceful. They usually stay pretty peaceful if their is only a single angel in the community.

Good luck,
Daniel

thanks to everyone who has replied. as usual, everyone's been really helpful. i never even knew about festivums before but now i am seriously considering them. would a shoal of angels and festivums with some clown loaches work?
also does it matter how many males and females are in the angel/festivum shoal? and how many of each species should there be?
finally if anyone can suggest any other fish that would be good to keep alongside angels and festivums, please tell me!

u cant really tell male angels frm female ones so the only thing u can do there is buy some and see wot happens, and i would guess that festivums would need about 2 or 3 females to every male (by the way festivums are great fish :) ). and a nice group of clow loaches would be fine in that tank, as for other fish i heard silver dollars a quite gud fish to be kept with angles, but they do eat plants sumtimes.
