I've heard the Koi Angels are less hardy individuals. I have a 60 planted tank with plenty of driftwood (no CO2) with high pH (8.2 - 8.4) and high alkalinity (I live with well water). I have 3 marble angels which seem to be doing great but would like to add some Koi...any thoughts? Anybody else keep these lovely fish?

I've not kept this fish, but a few friends I have keep them and have had the same experience in their 'lack' of hardiness.

Anytime a 'new' variety is developed that significantly changes the 'wild' genes, a lot of inbreeding has gone on and it can weaken the immune system of the fish in general.

Just my (friends') 2cents this time!
