after returning from an extended vacation (to a hot apartment), I think heat may have been what killed my fish. well, that or my cleaning of the filter before I left.

either way, I just checked the water in my now empty tank and its reading 80f. Thats with my ac unit on for the past 24 hours. so i could see how 3 weeks w/o ac and a heatwave could have caused my tank to reach 90f or more thus killing my fish.

anyways, Im looking for options to keep my tank cool and am considering a chiller or a fan.

looking at a used chiller locally for $100, or considering this fan: Azoo Cooling Fans

what do you think? im leaning towards the chiller...

The chiller is by far the better option - of course they cost a huge chunk more! Maybe the local one is a sweet deal! It also depends on how often this is a risk for you too....but all things being equal, I would go chiller.
