I added a good load of caulerpa in my main tank 3 days ago. Since i have a tang, i had to put it in a breeder net...i added substrate in the net for the roots. They are under 6500k fluo and it already grew..wow this is fast.
My cyano patched are dying so i guess my phosphates test sucked big time.
This is a temporary solution and caulerpa would be better "free" in a tank ( sump ). But people who wanna see the red killer algae being destroyed, try this..it costs less than rowaphos, polyfilter pads etc.
Just wanted to share this info 'cause cyano is so mysterious.
Oh yeah..one other thing. Caulerpa can cause ph swing greater than usual due to their photosynthesis so don't freak out if your test shows you a ph higher during day .

Well as long as use carbon and trim it regularly I don't have big problems with it, though don't chuck it down the chain.
I used a higher alk, higher flow, higher salinity and pH to fix my cyano. Anything but a chemical fix
