hi
have a little neon in our hosp tank at the mo being treated for fungus (cotton wooly stuff) that has appeared on its tail (not the fin bit just the tail ) it has developed quite a severe kink in its tail in the last 3-4 days-like an 's'shape. the fungus seems to be slightly better today (its been in the hosp for 2 days), its swimming (sl wonky - not surprisingly)& eating & looks quite happy..... will this kink straighten out? is it the fungus thats done this to the tail???? we're using interpet fungus & finrot med.
anyone have a similar prob??? any clues
thanks

Only thing I can think of which causes spinal curvature (apart from congenital problems) is TB (could be wrong though). Definitely wouldn't return it to the main tank just yet, until all causes have been ruled out. If it is TB, make sure you don't let any cuts on your hand come into contact with the water, as it is transmissable. Whatever the cause, doubt the curve will straighten out in time. Will do some research on this.

update on poor neon....took him out of hosp tank- fungus better but had a terrible kink in his tail couldnt swim properly at all. almost looked like the tail was going to fall off. we watched him for 24 hrs, struggle, poor thing & euthanased him this morning...couldnt bear to wait for our cannibals (other tank mates) to start nibbling on him. rip........:(
