and actually fishman, its very likely that if you do have a mating pair you are likely to be going from 5 cories and 2 kribs to 5 DEAD cories and 2 kribs.

everything i've read about kribs suggests that they are very territorial while mating, especially to bottom dwellers......

A friend of mine has a mated pair of kribs. Not that I know how they became that way. He reports that yes they do get territorial but as long as they have a cave area (such as a flower pot upside down with holes in the sides) they didn't go after other fish until they got too close. They strongly defend their area and will eat their babies if they feel threatened. I know in his tank, which is at least a 50gal, his cories were okay through at least two hatchings of eggs. That's all I know from my friend's experience. I got a pair of kribs but one died. Have yet to replace the other.

I'm trying to get a breeding pair of kribs, and I think I finally have one (a pair). The female will "flash" the male, and if he likes her, they will hang out together and chase everything out of the way. Their colors will be very vibrant, and the female's belly will turn beet red. Eventually, they will find a spot in the tank to claim as theirs.

When the female is ready, she will define her territory while the male sends all other fish into the corners. I don't have much experience more than this, but this is what's happening in my tank now :)

thought i'd chime in on this old topic. my kribs paired immediately and unfurtunatly choose the center of my 29 as their spot. they killed my gorami, and i think aiding in the death of my two angels. my clown is so stressed out that he's almost dead too.

no i have them in a little 5 gallon. they've laid 4 batches of eggs in the last 2 months. many have hatched, none have lived.

i will eventually put them in my 55, because i know my tiger barbs and parrots won't take their crap
