I just got a female kribensis last night (she's doing well this morning, hiding in a clay pot) and I am wondering...

at what size to they start to show their full coloration? Right now I can see the purple on her belly and slight greens and yellows around her head. She is about 1 1/2" long (this is a guess since I can only see her head right now).

Thanks! (Also, any other pointers would be great!)

I once had a lone female Kribensis in a 10 gallon, so here's my experience. It behaved for about a week, and then started to attack any and all other fish in the tank- even bigger ones. I read that Kribensis were supposed to be "peaceful," but I found that mine was not compatable with other fish at all. After it butchered my livebearers, it started attacking the gouramis, so I took the Kribensis back to the lfs.
I think that Kribensis are a beautiful fish and I would like to have some again someday, but next time I would either keep them in a species tank, or in a larger tank with other semi-aggressive cichlids.

Hmmm this probably wont apply to you but still.
8 months ago I got a male and female krib for my 25 gall community tank. They bred after a week to my suprise. Both parents become REALLY aggressive even though they were OK at first. Still my other fish were OK but stuck to the safe side of the tank. I didnt rear the fry but just saw how thewould do. About three grew and after 3 weeks they bred again. This time BOTH the male and FEMALE!! attacked and eventually killed my palties and bit many other fins. I got a tank divider but the tank was never the same after that. My kuli loaches krept under the divider and where KILLED!!!

Eventually i got rid of the parents but still have 5 offspring which fortunately only bother each other and stay near the bottom.

my male and female krib absolutly love each other, but they killed my gourami.. also my female is very different from anyother female that i have seen. She has yellow flecks through her tails and yellow tips in her fins. I have never seen a female with the colouration of mine. Can you get different species of krib?

cheers
aron.

There are different species of 'krib' imported every now and again, and most of these have a bunch of colour variants. Pretty much all wild caught kribs or Pelviachromis will have better colours than the interbred ones you see in the shops.
I can't see a single female being too bad, though I too didn't find my pair to be angels, and lost some tetras 'mysteriously' pretty quickly.

I have a single krib in my tank (I think its a male) and he does just fine. he doesnt pick on anyone or chase anyone.

but....

I first bought a krib from my LFS and he was about 1.5 inches long and he did chase everyone in the tank, especially other cichlids, I took him back to my LFS and got a smaller one insted, this one is about 1" long and is peacefull as can be...

as for the coloration, I dont know...
