Hi Everyone,

I have bred different kinds of live bearers and gold fish, but one day a friend gave me a kribensis. It is a very charming female with purple tummy, but I've never bred any cichlid before. I actually want to try it out =)... So far I'm still trying to find a male for her, but most of the my local pet stores don't have it. Anyway, I'll do the tank set up first. I've already had the breeding pots, heaters.. and other stuff ready. My question is, is 10 gal too small for a pair of kribs? My space is kinda limited because I have 4 tanks already (29, 12, 10, &5 gal).

Thanks =)

No it isn't. Sorry a 10 used for breeding is too small for a plec. The waste even a small one produces will be harmfully to your water quality. Not something you want when trying to rear fry. Also during spawning the plec may get picked on by the kribs. There just isn't much room for territories in a 10.

If algae control is what you want, you may get away with a couple of Otos. But don't be upset if they get beat to death when the kribs spawn.
