Was sitting on the couch this evening just getting ready to sink in when I glanced over at the 100g to admire my handiwork. Lucky I glanced at that particular time for I noticed my armored bichir swim by, rather lazily, with an odd thing in his mouth.
The kuhli was taken just shy of his tail fin and looked rather resigned to his fate.
I managed to get the bichir to release the little fella and now have him in his own private room, complete with food service and a tiny doping of melafix. He is eating heartily and doesn't seem too much worse-for-the-wear but was wondering if anybody out there might suggest anything to clich his survival. I've grown a little fond of the elusive and sometimes spasmodic guy.

I appreciate any response.

Kulhi loaches are social... maybe he'd like a friend or 2? Otherwise, melafix and tender loving care are probably the best thing for him.

I'm surprised the bichir could catch him... they're fast little buggers and they can burrow. Might want to think about removing other small fish or bottom feeders...

Six or more is nice. They are more visible and playful. I am attached to my kuhli's as well. I had one i had not seen in months. While transferring fish to another tank he was in a plant and out of water for a while before i noticed him trying to bury under the wet gravel in the empty tank. He survived. I hope yours does well too.
