i went to get those kuhli loaches anyways, 3 of them.  for the first 2 days, i couldn't find them at all.  I think they are more adjusted to the enviroment now, as they would peek out their heads.  Since i used sand as well as rock in my tank, i observed them sucking sand into their mouth than spout them back out their their gillslits.
as for the snail problem, i guess i will get a pair of dwarf gourami

Ya, I think it took mine almost 2 weeks before they discovered the joy of lounging in the water sprite. As for gouramis, I have 2 blues, 1 gold, and a kissing in a 30 gallon, and they could care less about snails...

Hmm, the snails or the gouramis? the snails get what they can find. The gouramis get flake, shrimp pellets, algae wafers, frozen and freeze dried blood worms, FD planktin, FD shrimp tetra min sinking granuales (main course) tetra min pro flake, a couple other kinds of pellets, i have like 15 different kinds of food... everybody gets a mid night snack of frozen blood worms, and an after noon meal of some sort of flake, or driedfood.

btw, what do Kuhli's like?  I have been feeding my tank on frozen bw, but the other fish would never allow anything to sink down to the bottom because they want to keep the water clean..
recently i have added some flakes, to see if they would eat it.  they seems to have poor eye sight, but good smelling.
i have found 2 hillstream (buttefly) loaches, they seems to be good loaches too.    *laughingcryingsmiley*
