Labidochromis Caeruleus housemates

Was just starting a 4ft mbuna tank and I love the look of the yellow labs and was wondering what other nice coloured fish would be great to house with these. Also what is the standard male to female ratio I should stick to.

Any info would be great thanx.

I've been doing a bit of research trying to stock my new 55, so I thought I'd share the little bit I've discovered about mbuna:

1 male to 3 females

keep with other mbuna

Stick to the more peaceful mbuna, yellow labs will struggle with mel. auratus, or anu melanochromis, laeger elongatus, afra, that sort of thing.

yellow labs do great with peacocks and haps, yellow labs are much more peaceful then other mbunas and can take a high protein diet of peacocks and haps, i have yellow labs in both my peacock and hap tanks, they do great, for keeping with mbunas, keep with more peaceful species, like the yellow labs

Oh...so you dont recommend yellow labs with afra's??? I went to a cichlid site and it recommends those two be kept together. Hmmm....I dont know then. I'm lost.

No afra can be a bit naughty. There's a heck of a lot they can be kept with, say what you fancy and people will say yea or nay. Does anyone have any experience with P. saulosi, or demasoni. In terms of what's asily available, peacocks make sense. Aulonacara, Protomelas?

peacocks (aulonocara), and haps (including protomelas) work great with yellow labs, but you cant mix them with other mbunas, demasoni are very very very agressive and need a large tank with lots of them, saulosi could be ok with the yellow labs

I dont really wanna go out and pay all this money for fish...only to realise that they dont mix and end up killing each other. So I wanna make sure.
