he could be dying of old age:eek: :(

i would do some 25%-%50% water changes once every two weeks

and feed him a variety of good foods like frozen bloodworms, freeze dried bloodworms, flakes

i'm not guarnteeing(sp?) anything but a water change for fish is like somebody feeling refreshed after they come out of the shower, that mixed with good food may work....... but if he's totally hopeless then i'm really sorry, you'll be posting in the Obituary forum soon.

Good luck with the betta!:D

He may be a bit elderly for a change this drastic but I have had good experiences keeping them in small filtered tanks. I also think Blueturq had a good suggestion, and I would add to that something live and wiggly like blackworms- live food usually perks them up if nothng else will.

i used to have mine in a 1 gallon bowl as well, then one day i put him in a 5g, he was much more happy and sometimes he would jump out of the water (very unusual for a betta), he lived for 2 1/2 years
