Does anyone else have loaches that just like to lay around on their sides?

It used to freak me out when they first started doing it, I used to think they'd copped it and were dead, but I'm used to it now.

I have Yoyo's in one of my 55g tanks, and they all do that, it's soooo funny now, but when I first saw it, I was freaked out by it, thought for sure it was dead.....then I tried to net it out, and zoom off he went!

My clown loaches will do this quite often. I knew to expect it, but after I first got my fish I never saw them do it. Then one afternoon I happened to stop in front of the tank and saw one of the loaches just casually "sitting" on one of the rock structures (they hardly ever stay still). At first I though something was wrong, and then this loach just caaaaasually tips over onto his side and slides off the rock down to the gravel. He layed there for a good minute before another loach came along, said "tag!" and they were both off on some new chase adventure.

Late at night I find my loaches sleeping on their sides or upside down wedged into various rock crevices and driftwood piles, completely "paled out".

My gold dojos do this too...and thankfully I knew to expect it ahead of time as well. Still, it tends to freak me out, so I just have to tap on the glass to try and elicit a response...doesn't always work, but the fish haven't keeled over yet, knock on wood. Crazy fish, lol.

that is odd I'll give em that. I got 2 dojo amd they never stop moving. I can hear them break the surface of the water in the middle of the night. how they don't have a heart attack is beyond me.

And when i go near the tank they come up to the glass and stomp/dance to kick up sand.

Odd little things..

My little yo yo's that I just got yesterday (3 of them) haven't stopped moving yet, so I'm looking forward to when they start playing and relaxing like that.

Mine are currently scrounging around the entire tank looking for any pieces of food that the other fish might have left behind... And one keeps going in with the school of danio (5) and trying to school with them. *laughingc

Mine were like that when I got them too. The fella in the shop had a devil of a time actually catching them in the first place. There was a big bit of driftwood in the tank they were in and they all hid in it, didn't budge even when he fished it out of the water.

Here they are when I first got the home.

When I released them they were all over the place but had a special interest in the filter.

They liked the outflow best I think and were small enough to get in there. I thought I was going to have to dismantle it to get one out but they got bored of it in the end thank heavens. They are a little too big to get in there now.

You can just see ones tail sticking out in this pic.

My clown loaches school with my tiger barbs...its really hilarious to watch
Mine do this as well...I've only had them about a month, but wow, such personalities!!! Haven't seen any games of tag yet, but I found one sleeping upside down in the top of the shipwreck one day, and another sleeping loach practically standing on his tail leaning up against a wall...THAT was funny! *laughingc
