leak in my sump

I was topping off the sump today and noticed a nice puddle of water come flowing out from underneath. The sump is a 20L sitting on the floor of a nice AGA wooden stand.
It's been wetter than usual down there, but I thought it was just humidity. No wonder my evaporation rates have been crazy.
Chances are the leak is in an area inaccessible to me (that's usually how things work). What are my options here?
The only way I got this sump in was to drain my tank, take it off of the stand, remove the stand's center wooden brace, and force the sump in there.
I'm seriously considering doing something similar to the method outlined on melevsreef.com: cut out a section of the stand to remove my sump. That's the only thing I can think of.

Why not just drain where is, and remove whatever you hav ein there, dry out with old towels, and just resilicone the entier thing, I am assuming it is a leak at the bottom of the sump..? do you know where the leak is.. if so that'd be my suggestion

I'm guessing the leak is at about halfway to the top because I noticed this after a huge topoff (the return pump had been off for a week because of the heat). Interesting suggestion though. That seems a lot easier.

if can take everything out and empty it.
take it outside and fill it up with tap water to find the leak. then seal it with weldon

if the leak persists I would just break the tank after draining it and take it out in pieces...then put in a different size sump that doesn't require dismantling the stand.

i plan to put one in there that doesnt require moding the stand... at first it was cause i was being lazy but now it makes more sense *crazysmil (aside from the less total volume)

like you already mentioned, I'd try the method from Melv's reef; externally brace the stand and take the center brace out.

something just scares me about removing the support brace with a tank full of water/corals IMO just doesnt seem like a great idea

that's why you externally brace it first.

I think aresgod has by far the best idea here. I'm a lazy kid (actually just have no time) and that may work.
I'll probably have to do this some time next week, time permitting.
