did a deep clean of my tank today and it was one of those everything went wrong type of days. water everywhere (floor, my mouth, etc), rocks started to slide all over, and the light almost collapsed. the best part is that now i have water coming out of the hose where the water enters back into the tank. the tube attaches to a solid plastic, curved piece, and that is where the problem is. it looks almost stretched out, and that might be why it isn't sealing it off properly. any suggestions? i apologize for the crappy description. if it was just a bit of a drip i wouldn't care, because it happened before and then stopped on its own. however, this is a pretty steady stream of water. i have the filter off now, not sure what to do.

So the hose is stretched out where it attaches to the return water hardware? And this is where it is leaking, right?

I'd make sure that the hard plastic for the return spout hasn't cracked or warped somehow. I've been known to break more than one when trying to shove the hose onto those things. If it the hose and it looks like it's just stretched out, go to a hardware or automotive store and get a hose clamp large enough to go over the hose while it's over the water return. Slap it on and tighten it up just enough to stop the water. Don't tighten too much or you might crack the return (I've done this too). I've got hose clamps on all of my canister filters just because I'm paranoid about the little cheap looking plastic fittings that come with them.
