so i'm starting to get back into planted tank setup after a very long time... i've been seeing storefronts and sign companies using led module string lights similar to http://www.ebay.com/itm/50FT-100pcs...753348?hash=item4ae7283b04:g:FOQAAOSwFdtXzmAe
has anyone used this type of lights for plant tanks? i have a large acrylic tank from an uncle who moved and didn't have space at his new home.... i think it's a 60-70 gallon tank but anyways i've been lookin at having those lights inside the canopy which currently has a 4ft flourecent strip from home depot...

They certainly could work if you use enough of them. It's a trial and error type thing. I've got a Current Satellite+ 48-60" light over my 55g w/ plants. It's OK for low light plants. Expensive, but not crazy expensive. I paid around $129 shipped for it some months ago.
