Hello all
I'm trying to figure out whether these new snails that hitchhiked into my tank are apple or other.
Looking around the internet I'm finding all sorts of pictures that don't appear to be going along with each other.  Some times apple snails have spirals with the point to the side, some of the time the point is in the back.
I'm assuming a true apple snail has the point centered in the back, but that is what i've found on the internet pond snails to have...
What is the truth?
And if both apple and pond snails have the same form how do I tell them apart especially when they're small?
Thanks,

Well, you could wait and see if they grow bigger; however, realize that if they are just pesty pond snails that they will be able to breed at quite a small size and will soon over run your tank. I'm finding that they are almost imposable to get rid of. I've got a 20 gallon tank that I put 3 ramshorn snails in. They laid eggs and now I have around 60 babys. Some pond snails got in and now I squish four or five every time I look at that tank, but more are always there!
