I have some zebras and later might like to add some leopards.  Does anyone know wheter they would school together or behave like separate species?

I have one zebra danio and 7 white clouds and the zebra swims around with the white clouds. Don't know if this is common behavior for them or he is just lonely and wants friends.

I have 4 of each in a 60 gallon tank.  They school together.  What I like about them is that they are hardy and peaceful, are oblivious to the disruption caused by regular water changes, and that they tend to school in the upper third of the tank, which offset the species that swim in the middle or bottom of the tank.

what do their offspring look like? is it normal behavior for these fish to suspend in one area for a while or bob their heads up and down while swimming slowly? do females behave strangely when they are ready to breed? thanks for any info.

the stripes of the zebra seem to be dominant over the spots of the leopard.  but i've seen some danios that have a stripe pattern on the upper part of the body that becomes dots on the lower part.

i've seen the head bobbing behavior that you are talking about.  i don't know what it is.  they aren't gulping air, it's almost like they have a cough.  my danios that do it seem to be healthy, so unless it's associated with shimmying in place or not eating, or discoloration, i wouldn't worry about it.

Actually, I read somewhere that the leopards may in fact be incapable of breeding unless mated to Zebras, sorta like a half mule.
