I found a beautiful crowntail betta. He is gray, burgundy and white. I thought that having a 55 gal would be large enough since the krib pair I have stay on the bottom all the time, and the betta stays at the top..WRONG!!!!!! I added the betta to the tank and all seemed well. After watching tv for a little while, I looked over at the tank and it looked like shark feeding frenzy. I got up and went to the tank and BOTH kribs were attacking the betta and had completely eaten all of his fins. I mean that his fins are shorter than the fins on a female....way shorter...... I grabbed one of my 1 gal bowls and moved some water from the 55 and put him in it. So far, he is alive, but I am afraid that he will not make it through the night..... I have never seen fish attack another one that fierce and fast. I will go to the store and see if I can find some meds for the betta tank and go from there.

That's sad to hear. Bettas are two slow to defend themselves against Kribs and usually to aggressive to coexist with them. I have tried repeatedly to introduce my Betta to several different fish and he has allways been fussy. He has a 6.6 gallon tank all to himself now and he seems to be happy? Did your Betta make it?

Thought I would give a quick update. The betta is doing better, some of the lesser damaged fins are starting to grow back. Being that he is in the tank alone he is extremely fiesty. He attacks the flake food when I put it in - he nearly jumps out of the water to get it. He even swims to the front of the tank to say "hello" when I walk up. I think he will make it fine.... wish me luck. I am considering trying to take him to work with me to put him on my desk....will have too see how that goes...
