All very cool, Lev, but be careful...most cichlids are predaceous in nature, and they don't stay small forever. I don't know about yours, but in my book, the majority of the cichlids get from five to eight inches in length.

So what tank are you putting them in, anyway?

ya. I know about the size. They are at about 1.5 inches now. And I have them in quarintine in a 10. But they will be moveing to a empty 20 by the end of the week.

Eventualy they will be part of my african tank 55-75 that i will be getting by march. I have the stuff for it just need a 75 and a stand... filters and heater are taken care of, along with the other little things that go with setting up a new tank.

a 75 makes a good mbuna tank, i look forward to seeing pics of it ;)

rusties are some of the more docile mbuna species, so i give you props for your excellent selection of fish.

how about some also peaceful yellow labs to mix?

i would avoid "kenyi" (lombardoi) and the auratus.......they are just more trouble than they are worth IMO and IME.

Yep. You read my mind. Labs are next on the list... But not for awile.

My friend has a kenyi and its just a little terror. I dont want to subject my rusties to that torment. They are pretty fish though.

Auratus... whats a common name for those. I have heard of them. But just cant put my finger on the fish at the moment.

Pic will come. And maybe a DIY article if I end up building my tank instead of buying it.

ah dont worry about it. I have been known to Hijack a thread myself now and then....

As for the rusties. They are starting to color up again. They will be pretty good looking when they are fully grown. My LFS usually gets quality fish, Looks like these were some of them.... now If I could only tell the diffrence between male and female...
