Lighting and Hair algae question

I have a 26 gallon bow front tank with 3 20W CP bulbs. The lights are on for 8 hours everyday. I started getting hair algae and was curious if my lights could be the cause of the algae. Is my lighting too high or too low? Without using any chemicals what can I do to get rid of the algae?

I dont think its your lights. That is 2.4 watts a gallon. Is it planted.

Whats the nitrates.

My nitrate level are normal.

My CP bulbs says 20watts but same as 75 watts. So does that mean it's 60watts or 225 watts?

I had hair algae, too - gross! My lights were on 10 hours a day. I got a timer which turns the lights off and on twice a day - that has helped alot.

Are you dosing any fertilizers? Do you have CO2? It would be useful if you could post your readings (numbers) for nitrates and phosphates.
