i know nothing about lighting, so when it came around to choosing lighting for my 5g i was stumped. I was hoping to just grow a mushroom coral or two and maybe some polyps.

I dont know if the stock lighting on my tank will be powerful enough ( i doubt it :p ), dunno anything about lighting but this is what it said on the tube.

bit blurry, it reads daylight, 65000k, 8w, t5, that make sense to anyone?

if this is not powerful enough can i just replace the tube...

If you're planning this to be a saltwater tank, it will depend on the kind of creatures you want to keep whether it will be enough light.

Right now, you have 8 watts of light.

To get more light, the only way would be to either retrofit or get a new hood. There are some great threads on books stickied in the saltwater section. You might want to ask over there about nano-specific books, and what spectrum bulbs you will need for the tank type you're planning :)
