I have a verrryyyyy basic lighting question....Do I need any?
I don't have any live plants and probably won't since I have goldfish who would eat the plants. Also, I will have the fish in the tank for the winter (now thru March), then they'll go back into my outside pond during the warmer months.
Searching the forums, stickies, etc., I didn't find anything that said the fish need light. If I'm wrong about this (and I very well might be!), let me know. I am still finding my way around here.
My tank came with two forescent light fixtures.
Stats on the tank:
75 gal
Freshwater
Fish:
9 fantail goldfish
1 Pleco (Hypostomus punctatusare)
1 Tiger Barb (Puntius tetrazona)
1 Common Goildfish (Carassius auratus auratus)
1 Black Moor Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus)
1 Yellow Lab
Substrate: gravel
Filtration: Topfin 60 - just two filter pads, no charcoal.

Thanks for the help,
Barb*PEACE!**PEACE!*

OK yes, it does help.
Now I'll need to figure out how to make/get a lid for the tank that will work with the lights. It didnt' come with one and if I can avoid spending money on the lid, that would be great.
Thanks for bearing with my simplictic question! Have no fear - there will be more!
