Hi my name is Sharon.I have two ten gallon tanks.My Question is do i leave lights on or off ?for control of algae. i am presantly treating for ick.My daughter Bubble Head also is treating her tank.But i have heard several verisons on control of algae due to the lighting.
Would appreciate any input on this Sharon 31351

uhh, the pic didn't show.

But for algae growth, you would have to leave the light on for quite a while.

To reduce it don't leave the lights on for very long (30-45 mins is ok)

OR you could leave the tank lights off for a few days kind like a blackout

Don't leave your lights on for more than 12 hours a day. Algae is common in a new tank, and it's best to scrape it off when you can. It won't harm the fish, but it can be unsightly.

Welcome to the tank, How long do you keep your lights on for? Limit the lights to 10hrs per day and make sure the tank gets no direct sunlight.
