hey all
accidently hijacked a thread and had more to say LOL
had 3 deaths this month in my 20g but had 3 babies make it in my sons 10g.there swimming around (big enough now) having grand time then this morning i only saw 2. i thought oh boy someone ate good lol.
just for the hell of it i thought hey let me check the filter, grabed flash light and looked in and saw 4 babies swimming around ! LOL
ARG !!!!!
grabbed a tupperware bowl filled with tank water and some gravel then dumped in.
so i might be getting just a small tank (2.5 for just such occasions lol) until i get my big baby ! looks like its gonna be 75gal WooHoo.but have to look into stand and how much weight my new den can take
but anyway
someone had asked before about how many die etc. just thought id let you all know
and like i said before this IS THE BEST FORUM !

Hey B. Ask your wife if she has panty hose or a stocking that you can use to cover the intake of the filter. It would prevent fry from getting sucked in.

Sorry for the losses though.

I've never been in your den obviously but I'm willing to bet it can hold 75g.

May I just say, thank you for wanting to pick up a small tank for the fry, instead of one of those stupid fry baskets. I really dont like those things, however, people seem to swear by them.
Ya we had one but very space consuming and ugly to look at LOL
i figure the small tank is worth it.ill keep it right on my desk.

This is all true, they also tend to be very dirty and not so great for the fish. They keep leftover food, and fish waste laying in the bottom...which will change the params of the "baby box" before it changes the params of the whole tank.
