I saw a thread where a guy made a styrofoam background using cement. I was curious as to whether or not someone could make a live rock background? It would be the same as making a live rock out of cement except it will be the background. Any thoughts or ideas from everyone?
hmm i think it should be possible except hard to plan, u need to know thickness, have a mold, right size, find a way to make it stand, probly do liek an L shape and the bottom part would be covered with sand.
This is a common practice in the aquariums of Australia I believe. The problem is jsut how difficult this is to do. All of the rock has to be set in place within about an hour and then filled. It helps to have all of the water pre-made in buckets. There is a type of extremely fast drying water-proof foam that is msot comonly used. I read about it in a book. The results where astonishing. Best of luck though.
this is just hear say but i was told about a solid rock liverock wall drill a hole through the rock and insert fiberglass rods or thick plactic rods like a shishkabob than with the rods sticking up a little than rig a brace on the rear of the tank
