Live rock cycling lights on or off?

Am I suppose to keep my lights on during the cycling process so that the organisms and coralline algae can photosynthesize or am I suppose to keep them off? I've heard conflicting viewpoints on this.

Welcome to the hobbie. Everything you read is going to have conflicting viewpoints. I have cured 2 batches one with the lights on and the other with the lights off. I didn't notice any difference, but I would say lights on is better for the same reasons you stated.

it wouldnt hurt to have the lights on for a few hours everyday during the curing process but its not nessacery

I kept mine on for a few hours a day during cycling. It didn't seem to harm anything.

It isnt really a huge difference but some like to avoid light during the curing process to avoid unneccessary algae growth/promotion.
