Was it cured in your lfs? It probably was....I can't imagine that they would sell you freshly shipped LR. When you say "do its thing".......what do you mean.......it will start acting as a filter as soon as you put it in the tank......you can cycle your tank w/ it too......if your tank is already cycled, it may cycle again.

Pretty immediately in terms of filtration. You need it to ssettle after moving it , and allow a little bit of time for some dieoff to take place. Where have you put it?

I know when I had LR before, all that stuff on it started growing almost immediately, and this had not, so I was just curious if I was missing something? Do I need a light change, and if so, which kind?

You're not giving us a whole lot to go on. What do you mean by "all that stuff on it growing almost immediately"? Do you mean algae, corals, coralline, slime, diatoms?

What kind of live rock do you have (where is it from)? What kind did you have before? Not all rocks are created equal......
What kind of lighting do you have now?
