Will Live Rock that has been out of water for a couple years come back to life when put back into a saltwater setup.

I'm planning on buying some off of a neighbor and starting a saltwater.

No, it will not. All life that has been on it has probably dried up into dust. Depending on how much dead rock your neighbor has, I would buy it. The rock will be light and porus. This will berfect for using as base rock. I would then seed it with some new cured live rock. Wait a few months and algae, and small organisms will already be inhabiting the dead rock.

Invariably I'd guess some bacteria and algae spores will have survived, but not much else. Spends as little money on this as possible

As of right now i'm just toying with the idea of a saltwater tank. Doing alot of reading alot of research. Just thought if I could get some rock cheap that would help out alot. If you have some web pages with good info that would be great.
