Living plants question

I have a few gouramis in my community tank and I read that they like living floating plants, so I bought 3 small ones. Well, they stay by the filter and are basically getting blown apart by the water coming back in to the tank. Is there anyway to prevent this? There are pieces of plant all over in the water.

why dont you tie the plant down to something?

For a while I use some fishing line to hold a group of plants to the edge of the tank, You couldnt see it and my guppies loved the floating plants.
