I don't know if aquarium sealant would work for holding plastic to glass, but here's an idea I thought of and I'd thought I'd share.

See, you cut the pipe in half and attach it to the side of the aquarium. You leave enough space at the back for your loaches (or whatever) to enter and exit. The other fishes wouldn't see whats inside, but you would. Also, black really wouldn't make the tank look ugly.

So, whatcha think? Anyone ever try this before?

Sounds like a good idea :)

Just make sure the tube is wide enough for them to be able to turn around in.

The silicone sealant should stick the plastic to the glass, just make sure you leave it long enough to cure before you add water.

Ecotank made a little "loach tube" by using a tube and covering it with gravel using silicone. It's open at one end, and closed at the other. It sticks out of the gravel, and looks pretty good. Unfortunately, no one is using it yet :( We have only had it set up about a week, so someone might use it eventually.

pretty good idea velvet*thumbsups i had an idea to make a system of pipes under the substrate on the bottom of a tank(like a subway tunnel), but then id probably NEVER see my loaches:D this would be a cool one to have cause theyll probably LOVE to hide in there and you could see them, plus its an escape from the other fish in the tank.

loach pie? hmmmmm that would be hard and expensive to make. youd either need a couple of fully grown loaches, or 100, 2 inch loaches. and it would be really hard to de-bone the small ones.

of course everyone knows im JOKING. id never cook aquarium fish:p

I could never get my loaches to go inside tubes. My guess is that they don't like touching smooth surfaces for some reason (maybe they stick to it?), as they'd rather nestle on a sandy surface. Maybe if you made a 1/4 pipe and leaned it on the glass so they could lay on the sand/gravel it would work better.
