Loaches and apple snails

Are loaches only interested in teeny snails, or will they go after a larger snail...like a quarter size apple snail?

Can Loaches and apple snails cohabitate, or is it problematical?

and no, i'm not going to put them in my 29...i'm planning a 55.

I don't know which loaches your planning (clowns?) but they will nip a larger snail to death We tried a mystery snail in one of our loach tanks, and he met a horrible end.

yea, not a pleasant experience for the snails

i also tried that some time ago with some very large snails in a tank with clowns, yoyos, and skunk loaches, and they were pecked at nonstop. fortunately i got my snails out in time!

The loaches I have don't bother the snails, but I wouldn't call mine true loaches.

hillstead and kuhli loaches are botia genera loaches. it's the botias that love to dine on snails.
