So today I just recently lost my sterbai, and now I have 1 left. Must be pretty lonely for him, because they would follow each other. :). But I do have 3 albino long fins in there with him, but they don't cruise with each other. Is he still going to be lonely? Right now he's under the driftwood by himself :(. Also he lost his whiskers? Don't know how that happened, is he going to be alright with the lost ? :(. I hope he'll be ok, there are some of his relatives in the tank with him :) .

How did he lose his whiskers? Is there other fish that could be attacking him? It is doubtful he will survive long without them. The albino long fins will not be considered company by him, so yes he'll be very lonely if he pulls through.

The other choices for losing his whiskers are an infection or high nitrates in the tank. What are you nitrate readings?

sterba's are not know for their hardieness, and bacterial rot of the barbles isn't uncommon.more waterchanges ,clean your gravel more often, and try using an anti-bacterial like melafix to help reduce this problem.while a lone cory is the odd man out, over time i have seen some consolation behaviour in corys.over time i have lost what was once small school, and are now just a few fish of the same type,so i have a tank full of assorted corys.when one of the two sterba's i had died, the spotted corys and the brochis kinad adopted the sterba.they would sit together, eat together and rest as a group.but then again corys aren't very anti social fish so it's not like they chase other fish away.if you can get more sterba's,you should, but if not he won't keel over and die from lonelieness.
