So my black molly has been pregnant for months. I don't even know long anymore. 3 months, maybe?
The question is - will she ever give birth? Is there a chance she's going to die?

She looks perfectly healthy otherwise. She swims around and eats like a champ. I would say she harrasses the male, if anything, as she nips at him pretty regularly.

I'm going to try to post a picture here. It's my first post, so if all goes well. Hopefully you can see the fish, despite the glare.

Are you sure thats not a balloon mollie?? How long have you had her and was she that size when you got her?
So I've had her.. about four months. She was slender when I got her, and started to fill in about a week after. My guess was that she got pregnant in that time.

The pet store is pretty good and they didn't label her as a balloon molly, but it's possible that they mislabeled her.
The other thing I'm noticing right now is there's a lighter patch on the underside of her belly. :S :S

Also, I don't know if this is standard, but the male is about a tenth of her size.

Mawade, what do you mean with "Til yesterday) Did she start to look like that in one day? And is it the photo that is making her scales look raised?

And BTW, can someone please tell me where the word "preggers" originated? In my day "PG" sufficed, but I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how anyone got preggers out pregnant or pg.

What I meant by yesterday was I caught her and the male in the act :) and yes, her coloration is kinda weird. Her underbelly has a yellowy silvery tint to it. Her babies have had white bellys.

And yes, the male is smaller. I have had him about a month?? He was my "omg I have to have him" buy. The female from the photo is HUGE compared to other Molly's I have seen.

Hard to tell but him vs her. She's the black, he's the white.

Thats great! Thyra I don't have an answer for you, but the english language has been without rules ever since it was marauded by texters... IMO.
