Check inside any decor. Most aquarium decorations are hollow, and depending upon how large your pleco is, they will shimmy themselves into any nook. My one sun catfish used to get underneath a fake tree trunk in my tank and live up inside it until I finally took it out because I was afraid he'd get stuck. Now I made some natural rock caves for him where I can peek into them and make sure he is there.

My one pleco, however, stays inside a hollow spot on the tree trunk and only comes out for food. It's a pain to try and lure him out, so I've given up and let him have his hidey hole.

yup... some fish just like to hide... my betta almost disappeared once... he worked his way under a rock... i didn't think he'd be able to fit, but i watched him slip under it. lol... then another time my male guppy swam under the under gravel filter... i didn't have enough gravel on it and it was partially floating... i couldn't get him to come out, so i had to take out the filter. i was afraid he was stuck! i think it our fish's job to scare the heck out of us when they hide... they probably take pleasure in it. lol! hop eu find your pl*co

Did you look

on the floor outside the tank? I had a plecostamus suck up one side of the tank, lift the lid with its nose and suck down the other side (the one without water). He was pretty big though and strong. He would eventually pass out onto the floor and I would almost step on him. *laughingc
